Disneyland + Memory Dex

Some times when I am given an assignment by Heidi Swapp to share here on the blog I ponder over ideas for a while before starting to create. For this Memory Dex I had a few ideas in mind but then I had a light bulb moment and thought why not use some DIY die cut elements in my Memory Dex to create custom cards!! The next thing I knew I had my Silhouette cameo out, I was googling Mouse and Castle shapes and I was cutting! The fun outcome which I share below is now my new favorite project!

I just adore that I have created a complete project that shares the highlights of my family's  recent trip to Disneyland.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

I love the bright pops of color and layers  peaking through that perfectly represents Disneyland don't you think!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Let me share with you a peak through my Memory Dex. I used the Memory Dex tray to hold all my cards, tickets and memorabilia. I am sharing some of my favorite cards inside my tray first.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Here I used one of the Gold Foiled cards and a circle punch.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

I used the Memory Dex punch to punch holes in the photo.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

I used Butter Colorshine and a polka dot stencil to create a pattern on my Mickey Mouse ears.

Stamping using the Memory Planner collection Clear stamps adds an easy and quick embellishment.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Here I used a piece of a Memory Dex card that I trimmed from the top of a card as am embellishment tucked under the photo.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Cards and memorabilia straight into my tray.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Let me share a little about how I created my die cut cards. I googled mouse and castles, imported them into my Silhouette Cameo machine and cut them out onto some white cardstock. I then used a variety of stencils and Color Shine colors to add some color to the die cut shapes.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Once dry I  trimmed a small section from the bottom of the shape and used the Memory Dex punch to punch the holes and I had created my own custom Memory Dex card!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

For my opening card I simple added some stamping using the Memory Planner Clear stamps and added the kraft die cut also from the Memory planner collection, clipping it on with the gorgeous clip from Magnolia Jane.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Circle punched photos and washi tape from Magnolia Jane make quick and easy cards.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

A photo and sticky label is all that is needed sometimes to tell a story.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

I used my We Are Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter to add strip journaling to some of my cards.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Gold glitter paper and a star punch create fun embellishments.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

I rolled my card into my Typecast typewriter to add journaling.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Splashes of Gold Color Shine add interest without the bulk.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

More circular photos trimmed to fit the card.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

No trip to Disneyland with boys is complete with a photo op with the man in Black!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Again, I used my Typecast typewriter, splashes of Color Shine and punched stars for a cohesive look to my cards.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Stencils and  Mint Color Shine create a bold statement against the black and white stripes of cards from the Selfie Kit and the Water Color cards allow for custom color  creations.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

For my blue Mickey card I first sprayed with a small dot stencil with Navy Color Shine then once dry resprayed  with the Navy again the entire shape  for a tone on tone effect.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

The accompanying  journaling card was created used one of the die cut shapes and some washi tape to make an interactive element!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

More washi!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Typed journaling and Glitter hearts!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

The Circular stencil from the Minc collection created a fun textural representation on the die cut castle card.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

On these cards I used the clear cards as overlays for the photos.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Here I want to showcase some of my favorite cards, it was so hard to narrow it down...which one would you choose!?

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Disneyland Memory Dex

Thanks for joining me today.  Have I inspired you to get some of your favorite vacation photos printed and into a Memory Dex tray? I hope so, my boys spent all weekend flipping through it and talking about their favorite memories, if for only that very reason my intention to create the tray has been fulfilled!

Heidi Swapp Storyline Hawaiian Album

Hands up if you love scrapbooking!  Hands up if you love scrapbooking but are like me and are  time poor!  Well there is now a solution!  It's called  Heidi Swapp Storyline , and  it's available at your local Michaels stores now! Let me share with you how easy it is to create an album- a vacation album in under 4 hours. You see the storyline collection which  includes  12 x 12 and 8 x1 1 albums and the  Sticker packs and Deck of Days cards are all self adhesive. Yes there is no adhesive, no cutting necessary , just print your photos and go.... Print your photos and adhere them with the self adhesive corners.....see how easy it is!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

The 8.5x11 Leaves album was the perfect choice for my recent vacation to Hawaii! Combined with the Adventure and Life Happens Deck of Days and the Botanical and Peony journaling stickers it was just so easy to get my memories recorded! Now the only thing I did add to a few of my pages was some splashes of Color Shine, some Metallic texture paste and stencils and Art screens and ink. I did this first to a few random pages and while they were drying I set out to print my photos!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

My opening page starts with a panoramic photo of the beach and a couple of stickers from the Peony Sticker kit.

The On the Go page I moved to the second page and added some Mint Texture paste with the Wish stencil from the Gallery Wall collection. I printed off my photo to 8x11 and slipped it into the pocket.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

I love the shine that is created with the Metallic Texture paste.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

Pops of yellow and Navy from the Life Happens Deck of Days adds some sunshine to any page.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

I laid down my photo and then added the different cards around around my photo to form my embellishments and hand wrote my journalling on the sticker.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

I used the Dream Art screen and yellow art screen ink to create a soft background for my photos. Do you notice the typed journalling at the bottom of the page. I used my We Are Memory Keepers Typecast typewriter to add the Who, What and Where to each page. It was just so easy.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

Turning the page celebrates our first day on the beach.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

I snuck in a super quick palm tree that I cut with my silhouette and then layered over my journalling from Peony Journalling cards kit. I mixed in some green and grey stickers to add a pop of color as well.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

This page took me literally five minutes to complete. I adhered my photo with one of the self adhesive photo corners and then stuck down the cards and journalling box.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

Another 8x11 photo slipped into the pocket on the left creates a big impact.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

The best part about this new Storyline collection is the way we can add so many photos  and a couple of cards and Boom your page is done!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

More mint texture paste and the wish stencil to create a background for my photos.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

I stuck the heart die cut under the photo for a fun effect and added the date with the stickers from the Botanical stickers pack.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

A grid design  is a perfect way to quickly create a page. I trimmed a piece of pattern paper from my stash to 3x4 and then popped that Welcome to the Weekend card onto the paper with pop dots for a bit of definition.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

I wrote out my journaling on the blue journaling sticker and slipped it under my photo but I left the self adhesive backing in place so I am able to move it in and out.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

I adhered that gold heart with pop dots to my large photo on the left.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

On the right page I created a border across the middle of my page using the stickers from the Botanical kit.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

This might be my favorite spread. The yellows and blues are just so refreshing!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

For this page I used some butter Color Shine and a dot stencil to create a background on my page and then I added my photos again in a grid design and added my circular journaling spot to the grid as well.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

For added texture I popped the heart die cut up with pop dots and added the beautiful sticker over the top of the photo.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

Another big and bold photo to tell the story of my boys surfing lesson!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

I loved how the soft mint colors in the Life Happens Deck of Days matched my photos perfectly. I finished with some splashes of Color Shine.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

Our final night in Hawaii was celebrated at the beach staying till sunset!

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

The gold die cut stickers were the perfect choice to create a richness to this page.

Kim Jeffress for Heidi Swapp Storyline

...and finally I added some more hidden journaling by trimming the journal sticker to size and kept the adhesive backing on it so I am able to move it in and out. Can you see how excited I am to be able to complete my album in just one sitting. It really is like a scrapbooking revolution, for anyone who is busy, and face it who isn't! I encourage you to try out this new collection, it really will change your life!
